Disclaimer

The Office of the Attorney General provides legal advice to Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANCs) and individual commissioners at their request under DC Official Code § 1-309.12(d)(3). In addition, a number of court decisions have interpreted the laws affecting ANCs, including particularly how ANC advice is to be given great weight by District agencies. Users of these documents must be aware that each letter providing advice to an ANC is based upon a specific set of facts with respect to a problem confronting that ANC. Accordingly, readers should be cautious about relying on any of the letters because the factual situation facing their ANC may differ, and thus result in a different conclusion than that stated in a prior letter.
